Just a quick call to touch base with your students’ families can encourage parents and probably won’t hurt your attendance either!

• Identify yourself as the child’s teacher.
• Thank the parent for sending his child to class.
• Explain briefly what you are studying in class.
• Make one positive comment about the child’s participation.

Be prepared with one sentence for each of the above if you receive an answering machine.
