Perhaps you’ve run smack into it yourself, as I have. I mean the frustration that seems inherent in being a Christian seriously committed to spiritual growth.
You know: the sometimes yawning gap between the reality of what you are spiritually and the ideal of what you feel you could be. Or should be. Strange. It’s almost as if the decision to really get down to business about growing in Christ comes with a certificate, suitable for framing, that reads:
Have you ever felt that way?
If so, take heart.
First, you’re normal.
No less a disciple than the Apostle Paul admitted that he struggled to hit the mark spiritually. He did what he didn’t want to do. He didn’t do what he wanted to do. If he felt that way, then it’s no wonder you and I do, too.
Second, there is help.
Some of us also have experience, understand and see your spiritual dissatisfaction as positive — a glowing ever that can be fanned into the flame of a warmer, deeper, and more intimate relationship with God.
We will help you fan the flame. We’ll help you regard whatever spiritual dissatisfaction you might feel as a gift from God. His design. Like a hunger that makes you eat. Or thirst that makes you drink.
The basic struggles you face as a believer are timeless. Being faithful in prayer, Bible study, witnessing and growth in character and integrity are life-long challenges. There’s no time like now to respond to the hunger to grow deeper in Christ. No time like now to fan the ember into a flame.
