When a child has the confidence to place his hand in yours, it may be dirty, full of chocolate or ice ceam or it may be full of dirt. Perhaps he has a wart where he has sucked his thumb. He may have a bandage on one of his little fingers.
But what is important about his hands is that these are the hands that someday may pick up a Bible or…. a revolver. The hands playing piano in a church or…. the hand that may set a roulette wheel spinning for betting. The hand that lovingly tends the wound of a leper or…. the trembling hand of an alcoholic.
Right now that hand is in your care! It asks for help and guidance. It represents a personality in miniature that must be respected as an individual and it is your responsibility, every day, to assist in its spiritual growth.
Let us use everything within our reach to win all of the children and to minister to all of their spiritual needs.
